According to the Law on Legal Status of Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS), which was adopted by the Parliament on May 23rd, 1996, the MAS is a governmental academic institution dedicated to research, evaluation and consultation regarding national science and technology policies.
The current organization of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences operates under the authority of the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia. It was reorganized in 2022 with 16 research institutes, 2 affiliated Academies and 6 divisions of Sub-Assemblies by the Mongolian government. And by the decision of the meeting of the Presidium from the December 26, 2022, the organizational structure was changed to 4 departments of the Presidium's office.
